MINUTES

Of a Regular Meeting of the Library Board of Trustees
Held September 20, 2016, at the
  338 Main Street, Huntington, NY 11743

PRESENT: Trustees: Ann M. Berger, Pat McKenna-Bausch, Ann Scolnick, and Chuck Rosner

Library Director: Joanne Adam; Assistant Directors: Kristine Casper and Teresa Schwind

EXCUSED: Paul Ehrlich

Ms. Berger called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

Ms. Scolnick made a motion, seconded by Mr. Rosner, to approve the agenda for the September 20, 2016, Board of Trustees Meeting. The vote was unanimous.

Mr. Rosner made a motion, seconded by Ms. McKenna-Bausch, to approve the Library Board of Trustees Minutes of July 19, 2016. The vote was unanimous.

Ms. Morgan was in attendance to present the Friends report. She stated the Friends earned over $3,600 at their annual book sale this past weekend. Excess books will be sent to Better World Books as well as used to replenish books at the train station. Part of the proceeds will go towards purchasing the MoMA pass.

A period of public expression was held.

A motion was made by Ms. Scolnick, seconded by Ms. McKenna-Bausch, that Warrant #3, July End of Month, totaling $319,023.89 is paid. The vote was unanimous.

Ms. McKenna-Bausch made a motion, seconded by Ms. Scolnick, that Warrant #4, August Disbursements, totaling $287,470.18 is paid. The vote was unanimous.

A motion was made by Ms. McKenna-Bausch, seconded by Ms. Scolnick, that Warrant #5, August End of Month, totaling $365,225.33 is paid. The vote was unanimous.

Ms. McKenna-Bausch made a motion, seconded by Ms. Scolnick, that Warrant #6, September Disbursements, totaling $157,567.09 is paid. The vote was unanimous.

Business Manager, Jennifer Mulvihill, was available to answer any questions regarding her report. She stated the auditors are planning to present at the October meeting, however, there is still work to be done.

A motion was made by Ms. Scolnick, seconded by Mr. Rosner, to approve the employment resolution dated September 20, 2016, for Assistant Library Director Kristine Casper, as presented with noted change. The vote was unanimous.

Ms. McKenna-Bausch made a motion, seconded by Mr. Rosner, to approve the employment resolution dated September 20, 2016, for Assistant Library Director Teresa Schwind, as presented with noted change. The vote was unanimous.

Ms. Scolnick made a motion, seconded by Ms. McKenna-Bausch to accept the Personnel Report for September, 2016. The vote was unanimous.

Assistant Director Kristine Casper stated that the PALS transition is moving along.

Assistant Director Theresa Schwind stated she recently attended an interesting Genealogy Conference and that she is continuing the process of having various works appraised. She and another librarian will attend a workshop offered by Lifetime Arts, in conjunction with the Huntington Arts Council, regarding creative aging.

Director Joanne Adam briefly reviewed her written report highlighting renovation updates, the Foundation and staffing. She noted they are considering several suggestions given for use of the $25,000 grant from Senator Marcellino and that a bench will be placed along Prospect Street in memory of Maureen Brown.

A second period of public expression was held.

At 6:29 p.m., a motion was made by Mr. Rosner, seconded by Ms. Scolnick, to enter Executive Session to discuss a real estate matter. The vote was unanimous.

At 8:26 p.m., Ms. Berger reconvened the meeting.

At 8:27 p.m., a motion was made by Ms. Scolnick, seconded by Mr. Rosner, to adjourn the meeting. At 8:29 p.m., the meeting was adjourned.
