In this course, we will cover drawing the basic head (proportions), creating the illusion of solid form with value (light and shadow), painting a portrait in a black and white value study and then converting it to a color value study. To facilitate a better understanding of simple steps to follow when creating a portrait, Anne will demonstrate each step of the portrait process before allowing students to work on their own. We will all be working on the same portrait which Anne will supply. This class requires prior watercolor and drawing experience. Materials needed: Good quality watercolor paper, professional grade watercolors, a variety of *watercolor brushes (various rounds from size 2 to 12), pencil, eraser and a tracing paper pad. Also needed is a water container and paper towels. (*No Artist Loft, please)   Registration required. HPL cardholders only.
